Dear All,
We are currently on ALM 11 Patch 10.
In one of the ALM 11 production project, few empty runs are reported by the Testers. Please find the attached screenshot.
These RUN's donot contain run steps either in the front end or in the backend database STEP table of this project database.
I have extracted the Audit Report for these RUN's using the below SQL query.
SELECT AU_USER,AU_TIME,AU_ACTION,AU_ENTITY_TYPE,AU_ENTITY_ID,AP_TABLE_NAME,AP_FIELD_NAME,AP_PROPERTY_NAME,AP_OLD_VALUE,AP_NEW_VALUE,AP_OLD_LONG_VALUE,AP_NEW_LONG_VALUE FROM AUDIT_LOG INNER JOIN AUDIT_PROPERTIES ON AUDIT_LOG.AU_ACTION_ID=AUDIT_PROPERTIES.AP_ACTION_ID WHERE AU_ENTITY_ID='16269' AND AU_ENTITY_TYPE = 'RUN'
By viewing the contents in the Audit Log , I understood the following.
Run execution for Run ID: 16269 started at 2014-04-01 04:30:53 by Tester. Run execution was ended on 2014-04-03 08:13:56 by the same Tester. In this case there was a huge time gap between start and end of the same run; I am assuming due to inactivity , user session got timed-out based on WAIT_BEFORE_DISCONNECT parameter of site admin which was set to 60 min. Because of this time out Run steps would have never stored/saved/commited into the database or may got wiped out.
I contacted Tester to understand what actions were performed exactly. User replied the below.
Srihari -> Tester - I want to understand from you on whether you really executed any steps in this run during this execution period or if blank steps were created in this run right at the start of the execution which eventually lead you to end it?
Tester -> It is indeed very possible that we started the manual runs, didn’t execute any steps then didn’t stop the manual run properly.
Did any face this issue before, in which situations will an RUN become empty, can we replicate this issue in any way?
Please advise.
