QC Migration to new App server and DB server (machines)

Hi ,

We have ALM 11 QC with patch level 0 (no pathces installed). we are moving to new app server and DB, DB in the new machine will be MS SQL 2008, as per the tech specs document MS SQL 2008 is supported by ALM 11 with certain patch. so my question is

1. Do i install  ALM 11 in the new machine and move projects to new DB, complete migration and then install the latest patch. 

or 

2.Install ALM and install the patch and then move projects to new DB and complete the migration

Please suggest which one is correct and if i have to following something else entirely.
