In ALM 11.52 the functionality remains the same. You can't select Test Instances and copy them from one test set to another.
I believe it would be possible to write a custom workflow to look at a highlighted test set, select all the instances in that test set that meet a certain criteria, and then programmatically build a new test set based on the results. The custom workflow could be attached to a custom toolbar button.
