Detected on Date field is not sorting by Year, Month chronologically

The Detected on Date field is not sorting by Year, Month chronologically.  It sorts by number of the month which doesn’t help at all when trying to sort on this column. E.g. it shows 1/01/14 and then 11/03/12 when sorted in ascending order

Please provide me a solution for this
